I would like to introduce the latest addition to the L3D lineup. Hailing from Hong Kong and Brooklyn and weighing in at
a whopping 45 pounds, give it up for The Big Cube!
This cube is a monster -- it's more than 2' on a side, can suck down hundreds of watts, and is just awesome to look at.
The cube is so big that I can fit inside it. It has its own microphone and accelerometer, just like the 8x8x8 cubes, and can animate its 4096 voxels at a blazing 60 frames per second. We are adding integration for the big cubes into Cubetube, so they'll be able to run existing Cubetube apps, as well as custom big cube apps that take advantage of the higher resolution of the cube. We are packing up the first twenty-four big cubes right now in Hong Kong, and they're heading out all over the world early next week. Seriously, this has been incredible to work on. Thank you all for making this possible, and we can't wait to see what you make with it!

Impressive! But the dimensions and especially the weight of the monstrum!! I doubt that a normal postal delivery service will handle it.
Other problem: import taxes and transport costs will be very high. I paid for the small (!) cube about 50€ extra. The heavy one will be 500 €?
I fear only kit seems a possibility, not the fully assembled one. Who know the exact extra costs for sending to Europe?
Shipping is around US$150 - US$200 for each Big Cube kit (although everyone that has pre-purchased a Big Cube so far gets free shipping).
As for customs, the EU is one of the toughest places in terms of large charges on anything more than US$25. But we learned a lot from the 8x8x8 Cube shipments and we're going to apply that knowledge to this round of Big Cube shipments.
And truly, this thing is INSANELY AWESOME to behold. We can't wait until Big Cube backers get their systems.
