I was trying to modify the 16^3 demo, compiled and flashed successfully.
Unfortunately, the demos still run fine, but now the fade at the end of each demo is extremely slow. That code was not modified.. can't figure it out.
Did you notice anything similar? Were there changes to the Particle Photon code in the last week or so?
I have to force the photon into safe more to reliably be able to flash it, and I'm afraid that constantly moving the cube I'll end up damaging the acrylic. I have to figure out how to ensure the photon listens to cloud requests even while the demos run. Multithreading is still not yet enabled is it?
Any pointers are welcome.
I struggle with some similar issue you described below.
This happens not only with the big cube but also with the 8^3.
Flashing the cube works fine but after a demo is running for a while, the cube is no longer visible via wifi.
The only way to get the cube back breathing is by pressing the reset button at the bottom or in very serious cases I have to tinker the Photon from the scratch.
My impression is that some demos seems to force that issue more than others?!
Try adding this line just after the includes:
This splits off the Wifi management and cloud interaction into a separate CPU thread, and has done wonders for me.
